June 2022 Wrap-Up

June: the month when life kicked my TBR out of the window. 🙃

.

I started June exactly as planned: by starting Book of Night over my birthday weekend. It was exactly the bookish treat I was expecting from Holly Black–dark, a little damaged, and so fantastically twisty, it actually made my jaw drop.

.

Unfortunately, my good start stalled there. I’d planned to read four books in June, but I wasn’t expecting a disastrous birthday, or a nightmare carrying over from the end of May, or a hideous incident in the middle of June, to clobber my mental health and reading productivity. When it did, I only had the headspace for one more June book–and after much deliberation, I decided to stay a little dark with The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires. I started it so late, I’ve not even read enough to form an opinion, but I guess life happens!

.

And that was my very short June in books! Here’s to a balance in reading’s–and life’s–favour through July…

.

How was your reading June?
