Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! This week’s theme is a TBR builder for sure…
.
1. Courtney Summers (specifically, Sadie)
I’ve heard so much about this, and I’m sure it meets the hype–I’m just not sure I’m up for anything so heavy at the minute! If you’ve read it, how trigger-inducing is it?
2. Tessa Bailey (specifically, It Happened One Summer)
This isn’t a matter of if, but when. And with that title, that when, of course, is summer–I think I might be looking at a birthday present to myself…
3. Julia Quinn (specifically, the Bridgerton series)
I know, I’m so far behind–hear me out! I’m planning an entire Regency-themed month in May, to read (and watch) these–I’ll get to them soon!
4. Jenny Lee (specifically, Anna K.)
I have no excuse for this. It’s been on my TBR too long, and I need to amend that!
5. Lemony Snicket (specifically, A Series of Unfortunate Events)
I don’t know what I’m waiting for, with this one. A return to being a child, perhaps?
.
Who’s your next must-read author?
I’ve heard so many good things about Sadie.

Yaas, Sadie is so good but I’d definitely wait to be in the right frame of mind to read it. It’s a great story but it is quite dark and has some intense TW (would recommend a quick search, there are quite a few)! I also can’t wait to read this Tessa Bailey series, although she’s not a new to me author I’ve not read any of her more recent contemporary releases. I hope you enjoy these authors/books whenever you get to them!

I definitely need to do that! I’ve heard so many good things, but it’s good to be prepared on that side, too. I’ve heard so many good things about Tessa Bailey’s recent works too, but I’m excited to read all of her stuff!

I hope you enjoy these! I also wish you better luck than I had with Lemony Snicket. That series (well, the first book anyway) didn’t work for me at this stage of my life. Hard to say if I would have like them as a kid… though I know a LOT of people love them!

That’s definitely my worry–I find I haven’t got much patience with middle grade or younger, but these are so iconic I want to give them a go!

Well, they’re definitely worth a try! They’re quick reads. Even if they don’t work for you, reading book one won’t take very long.

I’m so excited to read them with the recent Bridgerton hype! I’ve heard a lot of great things about Sadie–I really have to look up the triggers so I can get to it!

I love your picks! I’ve always wanted to read a Julia Quinn book (I guess I’m just kinda intimidated because there are so many of them lol). I really enjoyed the Duke and i, hope you do too if you get round to it! Here’s my TTT of the week, it was a quiz on fantasy books, see how many you know! 🙂 https://hundredsandthousandsofbooks.blog/2022/04/12/ttt-12-4-22-can-you-guess-what-urban-fantasy-books-these-words-are-from/

Ooh I should have thought about Courtney Summers, I have a couple of hers that I want to read. I loved A Series of Unfortunate Events, I would go back to the library every week when I was a kid for the new one!

That’s so cute! I had books like that when I was a kid too, but Unfortunate Events completely missed me.

Oh plenty missed me too, there are so many books out there, it’s (unfortunately) impossible to read them all!

Ooooh, a whole Regency month in May!! That sounds so fun. I only read The Duke and I after I’d watched the adaptation. This time I picked up The Viscount Who Loved Me before I watched the second season. Honestly, it worked either way. I feel like there were pros and cons to both. But I adored the books and the show! Enjoy!

That’s so interesting that you did it that way–I haven’t decided if I want to read or watch first with the second one, but it’s good to know it’ll work either way! I’m glad you enjoyed them too 🙂
