Top Ten Tuesday: (Five) Bookish Wishes

Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! I think this week’s theme is intended for TBR wishlist gifting, but I’m offering a different angle: here are five things I wish for from some of my all-time favourite books/series. (And spoiler alert for number five: read at your own risk unless you’ve read Leigh Bardugo’s Crooked Kingdom!)

1. A Marauder-era saga
I just did not get enough Marauders in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I want to know how James and Lily defeated Voldemort thrice, I want to know the details of their enemies-to-lovers romance, and more than anything, I want to read Sirius Black in his happy place, because I could never get enough of that!

2. A version of the whole Harry Potter series, narrated by Hermione
I’m sure there’s a fanfic out there that does it (and if you know one, please link it so I can read it!) but I would love to read Potter through Hermione’s eyes. Sure, Harry’s where the action’s at–but imagine how many details he’s missed, how much about life at Hogwarts, how many extracts from Hogwarts: A History?! You know Hermione would track it all. I want to live vicariously through her.

3. And talking of new narrators: a version of Pride and Prejudice as told by Mr. Darcy
Is it really so bad to want the Midnight Sun version of Pride and Prejudice?

4. Haymitch’s Hunger Games, as hinted at in Catching Fire
Would it be a cheerful read? Probably not. But that doesn’t stop me wanting it every time I re-read Catching Fire

5. For Matthias Helvar to be alive
Because that Crooked Kingdom ending was just rude.

What are your bookish wishes?

      1. Haha.. I didn’t even read it!! I just can’t stand Snow but I get the appeal of his storyline! So, I can’t judge the book at all, I would have still preferred Haymitch! lol

      2. Haha I think a lot of people were put off by the Snow of it all! It was a super interesting read in that I actually felt on Snow’s side for a little while–and then by the end his psychopathy was so obvious it was chilling. Haymitch’s might’ve been an easier read, haha!

  1. This is such an awesome wishlist. I want a spin-off series of when the marauders were at Hogwarts too. I think it would be such an awesome story if Rowling doesn’t ruin it since she said she’d change some things in the original series. Ugh, no. The original series is perfect. Leave it alone and write about the marauders. Too bad someone else can’t write these stories.

    1. I haven’t read anything about her changing the original series! I wonder what? There’s some great fanfic out there to get an alternative idea of the story, at least!
