Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! This week’s theme is wasted on me–I usually read when I’m eating alone, in very bog-standard places like my living room–but I’ve given it a go!
.
1. In my favourite chair
Everyone has a favourite chair, right? The bottom is sagging out of mine, but I still love it. It’s also where I find myself at 1am, my eyes having strayed to the bookcase, skim-reading my favourite parts of my favourite books–just like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
2. In bed
There’s something just cosy and comfortable about it–especially in the chilly months, like it was when I read Anna and the French Kiss.
3. Eating alone on the sofa
This isn’t as morbid as it sounds! If I’m eating breakfast or lunch, or if my fiance is out and I’m eating dinner on my own, I love sitting down to read–I’ve perfected the art of eating with one hand and holding the book/turning the pages with the other. This is ideally done with a lightweight paperback, but I’ve also managed it with huge illustrated editions like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Bookworm skills.
4. Under blankets
I have very vivid memories of reading Crooked Kingdom: sitting where I am right now, except under a heavy blanket early in January. A reader’s paradise.
5. On the train
I don’t make many train journeys long enough to read on–but the last time I did, I read the entirety of Siege and Storm, and it was one of the best parts of my trip. 😅
.
Where do you most like to read?
There’s nothing like reading under a thick pile of blankets.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

Thanks! I only just really got into reading on Kindle–I was a die-hard print book reader, but now I can read literally anywhere, I am definitely coming around to the Kindle haha!

A great list! When I’m eating alone, I often have a book in front of me. That’s how I used to spend my lunch break when I was working.

I have to read if I’m eating a meal alone… otherwise I get bored. LOL.

I most like to read poolside in a cabana with snacks and drinks beside me.

It filled me with such joy to see that one being so universal 😅 and yes! As long as you remember to get off at your stop. 😂

I love an audio-book on a long train journey! (a physical book is okay for a bit, but can’t do it for long without getting motion sick…)

Fingers crossed, I only have that in cars–otherwise I’d definitely have to teach myself to enjoy audiobooks more often!
