May: what felt like the slowest reading month of the year. π€·π»ββοΈ

.
Throughout March, I ran a March Madness bracket for my followers to choose my April TBR. All the hype got me excited for the runners up, too; so much so, I decided to spend May reading a bunch of them, to limited success… Of course, I had to finish the final winner first, Chain of Iron: a huge book that took up over half my reading month. Still, worth it! I loved that midway villain twist, and THAT CLIFFHANGER, by the Angel…

.
After finishing Chain of Iron (three weeks after I thought I would), I moved onto the first March Madness runner up: a contender in the Romance category, The Hating Game! After spending so much time this year in the Grishaverse and Shadowhunting London, I really craved a non-fantasy standalone as a palette cleanser. Go figure, then, that after reading Hating, all I’d want is to binge standalone romances! π€¦π»ββοΈ

When I could peel myself off rereading sections of my favourite romances (The Unhoneymooners has hooks in my soul, I swear), I started one of my March Madness fantasy runners up, The Wicked Deep. It’s early days yet–though I am SUPER enjoying the salt air of the setting, and the lyrical voice. Sanderson-style sea witches returning for their annual revenge–what’s not to like?

.
As I write this, that’s it for my bookish May–though I’m hoping to squeeze in the start of my March Madness backlist runner up, The Truth About Alice. Wish me luck for a fuller bookish June–and time for more romances!

.
How was your reading May–and what’s your bookish June looking like?
My May reading was pretty decentβthough largely because I squeezed in several short reads for instant gratification reading. π Here’s to a good June!

Ha, that’s a very good strategy for number building and also satisfying reading! Here’s hoping π
