Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! I love this prompt–a great way to spread some cheer!
.
1. Austenland by Shannon Hale
The book is hilarious, and I think the film might be even funnier–heartily recommend both!
2. Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
I still laugh to myself remembering quotes from this one–especially whenever Grandmere describes Olivia’s uncle (or, to be fair, when Grandmere speaks at all).
3. The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
I generally prefer print books, but the joy of reading on Kindle is easy highlighting–I chose yellow for everything that made me laugh, and the inside of my Kindle edition is about as bright as the cover. 😅
4. Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
This is another one that still makes me laugh just thinking about. (Also the sequel, with the bullet pen!)
5. The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su and Kate Rorick
This version of Pride and Prejudice is genius, and the videos that inspired the book are SO good too. If awkward comedy is your thing, this will have you cringing into your seat in the BEST way.
.
Spread some joy: what books always crack you up?
Great list! I’ve seen The Unhoneymooners on a few lists this week, which is clearly a sign I need to cross it off my TBR this year.

I haven’t thought about Bridget Jones’ Diary in years, but it sure was a funny read. Wasn’t there a sequel to it?

There was a sequel! And a couple of other sequels a few years on–but I think the original is unbeatable.

Omg nobody talks about the Lizzie Bennet Book. I’m going to reread it this year and reread the Lydia one as well. I enjoyed that Web series so much. Here is my post-https://paigesofbook.blogspot.com/2021/02/top-ten-tuesday-backlist-books-and.html.

I’ve never read Bridget Jones, but I did love the movie (even if parts of it are very dated!).

The book is equally dated, but if you can see it as a piece of its time, it’s still great!

I love the Austenland movie! It’s so great, but I haven’t read the book. I also really love The Lizzie Bennet Diaries show. Excellent adaptation for a modern audience!

The book is also excellent! It’s a really good adaptation. Just like Lizzie Bennet – both also so brilliantly cast!
