Top Ten Tuesday: (Five) Books I Hope Santa Brings

Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! This Tuesday is all about the books I’m hoping to find under the tree…

1. How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black
I always save Holly’s books for when I know I’ll have the time to enjoy (and binge) them–and for a few years, I also had a tradition of trying to finish a book in a day over Christmas. No better time or book to try to revive that tradition!

2. The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo
Is it me, or have we been in a Grishaverse drought for a long time? (It’s me? Cool. Thought so.) Excited either way!

3. The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I’ve been wanting to read this one since before it came out–but I’ve also been desperately wanting the American cover rather than the U.K. version. Here’s hoping Santa ships worldwide…

4. Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
I’ve seen this EVERYWHERE, and I’m yet to see a bad review. I also read the Kindle sample when I was compiling my Christmas list, and I’m already hooked–so here’s hoping!

5. You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson
Another one I’ve been seeing everywhere, whose reviews suggest the hype is completely worth it!

What books are you hoping for–for Christmas, or otherwise?

      1. The sample would definitely give you a good idea of the writing style in this case, so that’s a good indication. If you’re concerned about content warnings I’d check some of those out, though. It gets a bit heavier in the middle of the book. Nothing that I would consider too graphic, but others have different triggers than I do.

      2. Oof, I hadn’t considered any of that – thank you for the tip! My biggest worry for triggers would be anything negatively involving animals, but those tend to be hard searches – I don’t suppose you remember anything I should look out for on that end? Thank you! ❤️

      3. I don’t remember anything about animals in the book at all, honestly. The main thing I warn people of trigger-wise for this book is sexual content of questionable consent. It’s not that explicit, though, and does fit with the horror aspect of the book.
