Top 10 Tuesday: (Five) Super Long Book Titles

Created by and with thanks to That Artsy Reader! This Tuesday’s prompt reminds me of an Instagram challenge I did recently, all about wordy titles. For the #countyourstacks challenge, I found out the longest book titles I have–I got up to eleven words long!–and now I get to show them off here, too!

1. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Objectively, this title isn’t that long–only six words. But it’s a mouthful to say, and I feel that counts!

2. The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
Another one that’s such a mouthful, it seems longer than it actually is!

3. The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
I was pleasantly surprised, for the Instagram challenge, to find this one is nine words long–I don’t think I even realised it had a sort of subtitle before then. I was also pleasantly surprised that the subtitle is gloriously dark and vibey!

4. From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess by Meg Cabot
I feel like Meg’s books are always oddly titled–like how the UK publishers retitled the whole Princess Diaries series for… publishing reasons, I guess? Anyway, I don’t think that happened with this one–it’s just a title that came in useful for this prompt!

5. From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess: Royal Wedding Disaster by Meg Cabot
Okay, I know this one is vaguely cheaty, as it includes the series title. But it counts–and Mia Thermopolis is on the cover, so that overrules everything. Thank you kindly!

What’s the longest titled book you own?

      1. Would you recommend it to someone who didn’t think ‘We Were Liars’ was all that great? I’ve had a copy for a while and I’m trying to decide whether to give it away or not.

      2. Absolutely! To be honest, I don’t rate We Were Liars or Genuine Fraud – but Frankie even tops The Boyfriend List series for me. It’s very different to her more recent stuff. Much more fun, too!

  1. Great post! This is something I think about quite a lot haha when I have to write out all the titles when I’m revise the them… I recently finished the language of thorns AND LOVED IT SO MUCH!! I have to say the Kerch tale kind of terrifying me – dolls are freaking terrifying. I can’t even watch coralline lol (but the button eyes?!). Here was my review of it 🙂

    1. Thank you! The thing I noticed was that I didn’t even realise how long most titles were? Especially Language of Thorns! But YES, dolls are so creepy that’s the one story I haven’t been able to reread 😅 checking your review now!
