April 2020 Wrap-Up/May TBR

I had a pretty solid reading month, in spite of… Well, the world. Here’s a summary!

.

Continuing my 2020 Harry Potter reread, this month I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As with Chamber of Secrets, I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed this more than I remembered! Is it time to rerank the Harry Potter books?!

.

Excited by the new release, I also listened to the audiobook of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. Audiobooks in general aren’t my format, it turns out; but the performances of this were STUNNING, and I definitely recommend it!

.

On the subject of audiobooks, because I had a couple of Audible credits, I finally got around to listening to the audiobook of Daisy Jones and The Six. I adored this book when I read it last year, and I thought the audiobook performances were fantastic!

.

Continuing with rereads, I made progress on my Sookie Stackhouse series reread by getting through Dead to the World. This was always my favourite in the series, and I suspect that’s purely because of the additional Eric content…

.

Recommended by my Instagram followers, I also read One of Us is Next (review to come tomorrow!). It was a pretty solid sequel–if you liked One of Us is Lying (which I did), you’ll probably enjoy this, too!

.

And finally, I’ve just finished reading a duology I’ve been looking forward to for years: the Debutantes series, Little White Lies and Deadly Little Scandals! I love all Jennifer Lynn Barnes books, but these are easily my favourite things she’s released since The Naturals series–they’re soapy, twisty, gripping, everything I needed right now, and I LOVED them!

.

How was your April in books–and what’s your reading May looking like? This is mine as planned!
